Brain & Spine Tumor Program, Comprehensive Care for Each Patient For patients diagnosed with a brain or spine tumor, a multi-disciplinary team of specialists collaborates to provide comprehensive, customized care that includes counseling services to help patients and their families cope with the diagnosis. Following treatment, rehabilitation services help patients regain and strengthen their everyday skills. Stroke Care – Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center UPDATED: The stroke care program at Cottage Health earned certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission and is recognized for producing better outcomes and greater life-saving care for victims of stroke while also offering community education and emotional support for families. This makes Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital one of only 22 (out of the 450 hospitals in CA) to achieve this level of certification. Advanced Imaging, More Accurate Diagnoses The Cottage Center for Advanced Imaging (CCAI) features a full spectrum of diagnostic services utilizing the most advanced suite of technologies available that include the GE Signa HDX 3.0 Tesla MRI, Siemens Open Bore 1.5 Tesla MRI, Siemens Open Bore 1.5 Tesla MRI, and GE 64-slice volume CT scanner. Brain Tumor Nurse Navigation To reduce patient anxiety and improve patient satisfaction, Cottage Health provides a nurse navigator to guide the journey of brain tumor patients. The nurse navigator educates patients and their families, coordinates inter- departmental treatments, serves as an advocate for the patients and offers support with scheduled group walks. The walks allow patients to meet others facing similar situations, ask questions of the nurse, and create a support group that uplifts with exercise, friendship and beachfront views along the journey.
