Cottage Health 2020 Culture Audit

Onsite Dining Employees are provided with healthy, affordable dining options onsite. At our two largest hospitals, there are four restaurants and a weekly Farmer’s Market. The Park Place Deli at SBCH offers gourmet prepared dinners that employees can purchase and take home. Commuter Programs Encouraging increased use of green methods of transportation is the goal of the Commuter Program. Employees ease traffic and parking congestion and save money at the same time. Those who take the bus or train to work are eligible for a 50% reduction in ticket costs – up to $75 a month. Cottage also provides a 50% subsidy for van pools. Additionally, employees who use alternative transportation at least 8 times in the month are eligible for a monthly raffle drawing for a $100 gift card. “I needed to move 76 miles away to help care for my mother. Driving to work in traffic was a nightmare, but the commuter program made a world of difference. I take Amtrak along the beautiful coastline and then hop on a bus at that takes me straight to Cottage. It’s much faster, easier and cheaper.” At the parking facility at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, we provide an indoor bike storage room for employees who commute to work or want to cycle during their break. Showers are also available to employees. Housing Assistance in the Santa Barbara Area The Santa Barbara region is one of the most beautiful places to live on the West Coast and our real estate values reflect that desirability. We are sensitive to the cost of living in this community and have implemented a number of programs to make it more affordable for employees and their families. NEW: “The CH workforce housing is, for me, a big reason I have remained employed at Cottage. The affordability is unmatched in Santa Barbara, and without it I would have to rent an apartment that would cost more than my two bedroom home. Family and friends who visit are always impressed and when I tell them how much my mortgage is,they are in disbelief. The home itself is in good shape and in a prime location to raise a family. I am walking distance from several parks, great restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the beautiful Courthouse, and the Santa Barbara Mission. My wife and I absolutely love where we live; it truly feels like home. We know this now more than ever because when we come home from even the best vacations or visiting family on the holidays, we are immediately relieved to be home.” – Blake Henderson, RN, SBCH Emergency Department Video : Denise’s Life Where She Loves It Supplemental Materials 103/119 Start | Contents | Highlights | Business Description | Hiring & Welcoming | Inspiring | Speaking | Listening | Thanking | Developing | Caring | Celebrating | Sharing • Caring 6.31
